How it works

  1. Get verified

Business details, a resale certificate or licence, automated checks and a human review, usually the same business day. Buyers and sellers alike.

  2. List or bid on verified lots

Sellers photograph at least 10% of the pieces; labels are read and modules counted before a lot goes live. Buyers bid a maximum and the system bids for them.

  3. Win, then pay the platform

The winner pays by bank debit, bank transfer or card. Funds are held by the platform; the seller ships only after settlement.

  4. Ship, confirm, release

The seller ships on a platform label. The buyer confirms the count on receipt, or the window lapses, and funds release to the seller.

The full walkthrough for buyers and sellers

A flat, capped fee instead of a percentage of your deal

Sellers pay a plan of $249/month ($199/month billed annually) plus a protected-payment fee per sale. Buyers pay hammer plus shipping. On a $10,000 sale:

Tradeloop · 7.5% final value fee

$750

taken from the seller

eBay · 13.0% approx. final value fee

$1,300

taken from the seller

Memory Traders · 1.50%, capped at $750

$174.88

$150.00 protected-payment fee + $24.88 payout processing at cost. Plan billed separately.

Competitor rates are their published final-value fees at the time of writing and may change. Our schedule is data: the version in force when your auction closes is copied onto your order. Full pricing and calculator.

Price index

Weekly median $/GB from released deals, by family, form factor and capacity. Built from what actually closed, not asking prices.

Full index

The index launches with the first closed deals. Each weekly point needs several released orders before it publishes, so no single sale is ever shown.

Questions, answered

What does it cost to sell?

Sellers pay a flat plan of $249 a month (or $199 a month billed annually) and a protected-payment fee of 1.5% of the hammer price, capped per sale, plus card or bank processing passed through at cost (0.25% + $0.25). There are no listing fees and no success fees beyond that. Compare that with 7.5% on Tradeloop or around 13% on eBay. Buyers pay the hammer price plus shipping and insurance; there is no buyer premium at launch.

How does protected payment work?

The buyer pays Memory Traders, not the seller. We hold the funds while the seller ships on our label and the buyer confirms the count on delivery. Once the buyer confirms, or the confirmation window lapses without a dispute, the funds release to the seller and the transfer goes out. If there is a problem, the funds stay with us until the dispute is decided. Nobody ships on a promise and nobody pays a stranger.

Who can bid and sell?

Everyone on the platform is a verified business. Level 1 means business details, EIN last four, a licence or resale certificate and automated checks; staff approve the same business day. Level 2 adds a bank account on file and one completed protected deal, and unlocks high-value auctions. Level 3, the inspected seller badge, goes to sellers whose consigned lots counted within 2% of what they declared. Buyers never see a seller's name unless the seller chooses to show it.

How does shipping work?

Every sale ships on a FedEx label we issue, with direct signature required and declared-value insurance on larger orders. The seller packs in anti-static trays, photographs the packed box and ships within two business days of payment. Tracking posts to the order page for both parties. Buyers pay shipping at cost; sellers pay nothing to ship.

What is the confirmation window?

After delivery the buyer has three business days to count the modules and confirm receipt. A full count releases the funds to the seller. A short count opens a dispute automatically with the packed photo and the delivery record as evidence. If the buyer does nothing, the funds release when the window ends.

What happens if there is a dispute?

Open the dispute from the order with photos and the count you received. The seller has two business days to respond, then our team decides within five business days on the evidence: a full refund, a full release, or a split. Either side can ask for a bench inspection; the report is binding and the $250 fee goes to the party the decision goes against. The money moves once, when the decision is made.

Where do the price index numbers come from?

The index is built only from completed protected deals on this platform: money moved and the buyer confirmed the count. Each week we publish the median and quartile price per gigabyte for each generation, module type and capacity with at least three deals, after removing statistical outliers. Nothing is estimated, scraped or self-reported. Members can download the data as CSV.
